Introduction

History

1904: Nippon Toki partnership founded.

1912: Ceramics laboratory built at Nippon Toki, research begins on producing sanitary ceramics.

1917: Toyo Co., Ltd. founded in the city of Kokura on Kyushu.

1918: Production begins of sanitary ceramics.

1937: Chigasaki plant constructed.

1946: Manufacture begins on faucet hardware.

1968: Sales begin of vanity sinks.

1969: Trademark is changed from Toyotoki to TOTO.

1970: Company name changed from Toyo Toki to Toto Kiki.

1977: Surya TOTO Indonesia established, first serious overseas venture since WW II.

1980: Washlet introduced, a toilet seat / bidet with warm water.

1981: Kitchen Unit goes on sale.

1986: Siam Sanitary Ware Co., Ltd. established as a joint venture in Thailand.

1987: The Sian Sanitary Fittings Co., Ltd. established as a joint venture in Thailand.

          Taiwan TOTO Co., Ltd. established.

1989: TOTO USA Inc. established as a sales subsidiary in America.

1991: TOTO Industries (Atlanta), Inc. established as a manufacturing subsidiary in America.

1993: TOTO Singapore Office established.

1994: TOTO Seoul Office established in Korea.

           Beijing TOTO Co., Ltd. Nanjing TOTO Co., Ltd. and TOTO (Dailian) Co., Ltd. established as joint ventures in China.

1995: TOTO (Beijing) Co., Ltd. established as a joint venture in China.

1996: TOTO (Malaysia) SDN. BHD. established.

          TOTO (China) Co., Ltd. established as a holding company.

          TOTO USA., Inc. established as a holding company.

1997: TOTO (Singapore) Co., Ltd. established as a joint as a joint venture.

1998: Hydrotect engineering developed.

1999: CeFiONtect engineering developed.

2000: TOTO receives ISO 14001 cetification in all its plants.

2001: TOTO EASTCHINA Co., Ltd. established in Shanghai, China.

          TOTO Korea Ltd., established.

2002: TOTO Vietnam Co., Ltd. established.

          TOTO Delhi Representative Office established in India.

2004: Xiamne Plumbing Technology Co., Ltd. established as a joint venture in China.

2005: TOTO Dubai Representative Office established in the Middle East.

          TOTO Bangkok Representative Office established in Thailand.

2006: In preparation for 90th anniversary, Japanese coporate name changed from TOTO Kiki Kabushiki Gaisha to TOTO Kabushiki Gaisha

2007: TOTO Manila Representative Office established in the Philippines.

          TOTO Europe GmbH established in Germany.

2008: TOTO Asia Oceania Pte. Ltd established in Singapore.
